Dedicated server means you are the only user of the server. The whole server is dedicated to your needs. You can host one or more sites on the server as you see fit and administer it in any way you wish.

It comes between a Shared hosting server and a dedicated hosting server.A first step for leaving shared hosting and before dedicated server. That is same as dedicated hosting server in terms of the functions like SSH access, administrative control, the flexibility to install custom applications,But affordable when compared to a dedicated server.
