Yes, that must be avoided at all times, that is why we should put our backlinks to forums that are similar with your website, if your backlinks redirects you to your website that is all about web hosting then this forum is a good example for posting your backlinks, but if you put your backlinks in a horror forum then surely your post along with your backlink will be deleted lols!
