Can anyone post a detailed 'how to' on starting a voip call service ?

That would require more space than a forum reply, but the short answer is that you will need to have a VoIP softswitch and billing software (there are many available, both free and paid), and a VPS or dedicated server to host it on (depending on your number of concurrent calls) You will also need to get phone numbers (DIDs) for your clients, as well as open an account with a VoIP termination provider. Profit margins in VoIP are very small and it is a very competitive industry, I recommend that you continue to do as much research as possible before actually starting your call service.

A cheaper alternative would be to start a service similar to Skype. It wouldn't require the actual phone numbers but rather a series of usernames.
