One of the most popular client support/billing software is WHMCS . The installation of WHMCS is very simple and it is even available in one click installers like Fantastico . The main purpose and use of WHMCS is to assist you in managing the financial and support aspects related to your web-hosting business . I have already described the basics of WHMCS in my other thread , so I will just move to the setup part . In WHMCS you can easily create and manage clients accounts . All newly registered and old clients are visible at you WHMCS client tab . From the clients window you can manually send reminders for overdue invoices , you can accept/cancel orders , you can mark orders as fraud and so on . All information for your clients is available at your clients window and you can easily access it . There is detailed statistic for your company financial results - expenses , income etc. , and you can easily analyze how well your business is going . WHMCS can be fully synchronized with WHM and after the synchronization everything could be automated from placing a new order to your new client account information e-mail . It is important to note , that if you do not setup your cron jobs correctly , the process of automation will not work . The setup of your cron jobs can be easily made from your cPanel - cron jobs settings window . After a successful setup , each of your desired settings will be automatically completed at the time defined in your cron jobs settings . Another great feature of WHMCS is the built-in support module . Thanks to this module, the process from submitting a ticket by your clients to receiving an answer from your staff is incredibly fast . Your client is receiving e-mails , when his ticket has been answered with direct link to your support page . You can add and configure new products/web-hosting plans at any time from your product module .

RE: WHMCS for Newbies
WHMCS indeed is not only popular but very essential to the big companies today. Like one of the companies which I have worked for before, a telecommunications company in the US. WHMCS makes online client support and billing easier with one click. Not only that, this can also be used in submitting like trouble tickets by the clients for support. Based on our own utilization of WHMCS, we have work order trouble tickets from clients where they submit it to us and we work on it. So can we say that WHMCS is also another initiative that we can use for Going Green? Yes! Since this stores online reports and financial expenses even other options like storing important data and also computation. This makes the world easier and more simple.

Yes, WHMCS can be considered as a part of the ``green`` solutions. Thanks to software of this type, there is no need for paper documents, such as invoices.

RE: WHMCS for Newbies
WHMCS is an amazing peice of software, and alot of companys do use it, simply because " it gets the job done ".
i think any host starting up should atleast consider it, for many reasons, but try the demo, you will completely understand why so many people use it, but, also alot of hosts use other software aswell, it doesnt matter who uses what, its what works best for you... |

Yes, I agree with you, ServerMicro. The most important aspect in the billing software selection is always based on your personal preferences and needs.

RE: WHMCS for Newbies
I love WHMCS for this reason. It is simply so robust and so easy to use that it takes the chore out of reselling hosting.
I remember when I was on a reseller server and I tried a lot of other software on the market with WHMCS that left the only good lasting impression. ChiChi's Floral - Hosted by Myhosting COMING BACK SOON! (Fall 2012) |
