Choosing A Good Web Hosting Provider

RE: Choosing A Good Web Hosting Provider
I completely agree with you, Apaullo. When a provider advertises certain unlimited quotas, you should be able to use the service as advertised. Otherwise, the ``unlimited`` webhosting provider deserves a very ``good`` service review and full payment dispute.

Yes, that is why Providers must really be very careful when giving out promos especially with unlimited services, they might regret it eventually. Those big Websites will eat your resources whole if you are not careful

RE: Choosing A Good Web Hosting Provider
Hey all!

I thought I could chime in here and provide my 2 cents about Unlimited offerings.

While many companies offer "Unlimited storage" I still have not run across any hard drives that have unlimited space Tongue. However, this does not mean that the provider is overselling, or engaging in any bad practices. If the provider is responsible, they will have an infrastructure in place that helps them locate and shift the heavy users in a mix with the light users, in a scalable environment. All without the users perceiving any difference in service.

It is true that usage can change on a dime, but with finite storage or not, that kind of radical change can still affect one or more customers.

In the end, I do not believe that just because a hosting provider offers unlimited hosting that it means you cannot trust them. Please make sure to look at all aspects as mentioned in the beginning of this post before jumping to any conclusion.

Cheers!

Hello Gabe Smile

We know what you mean and we agree not all Providers who offer unlimited services are frauds, but just be wary and always check on reviews of their clients before acquiring their 'unlimited' services because I for one also still haven't run across an unlimited HDD Tongue

But the main point of this thread is do not believe everything a Provider is saying unless they came from a reputable company and if they can back up their words...it will be very obvious when a new company, just started in the game will come to you and offer lots of freebies and unlimited services, and if they can, it will not last long since they will take on more customers, more resource demands.

RE: Choosing A Good Web Hosting Provider
It is incredibly easy to become a web host these days. So easy, in fact, that many people jump into the business only to find out that they've gotten in way over their heads. Six months later, they are closing their doors.
What you are looking for is stability; a company that has been in business for at least a year and shows signs of sticking around. Read the company's about page and its blog. If you get the impression that the owner's got in the business as a way of making a quick buck, move on.
