Yes Standingoten, I agree with what you said about LINUX being freeware and cheaper that WINDOWS, but I for one as a newbie will choose WINDOWS since I am not really that familiar with LINUS and open source. But I know that Linus much more safer and reliable when in comes to security.

Linux VPS because its more reliable when it comes to resource usage unless you have some huge script/program running.

It is definitely preference. I think 90% of users will find Linux easier to use since it is so darn basic. The other 10% like you will choose Windows because of preference. I personally find Windows coding too complex and just confusing if you don't know the right protocols.

Linux VPS and Windows VPS are generally comparable in features. Linux will save you money and your system will be more efficient and guarantee more uptime, but Windows allows you to use other Microsoft programs such as MS SQL, which you may need or be used to.
The best platform for you depends on your budget and your needs.
