Sad Spam – A time consuming nightmare
Unfortunately, almost every popular website is a potential spam target nowadays. There are even entire firms specialized at providing spam services, such as almost all providers of backlinks for a certain website. Because of the high demand of such services, even some software developers are producing and distributing applications, such as Senuke , multiposter, xgen, and similar. Spam is making the everyday webmaster`s work harder, it consumes a substantial part of you time, and it is capable of affecting or even destroying many important website`s aspects. Herein, we must keep our websites ``clean``, and this thread is the best place to help each other with relevant ideas and methods, which could increase the spam protection of our websites or at least reduce the spam levels.

Indeed Max, we must try to keep our websites clean of spam as long as we can...such irrelevant information and posts for example in this site can damage this website's integrity in giving out sincere and truthful information for the users.

This could also take away the members and users who seek out answers for their queries if they find out that we welcome such nonsense posts and infos..we must keep this forum clean from such spam.

I think to reduce the spam you can use some sort of plugins that may be able to filter the posts based on spam looking links, words etc. Manual checking of each and every post is a difficult task especially for large boards.

SPAM is not the only item that can tarnish a formerly clean site. You also want to be vigilant against malware. Malware comes in many forms, from an unwanted ad reappearing on your site to an executable file that infects visitors who click on it. Telltale signs that your site is infected can include unexplained ads, links or pop-ups, but some malware can have no noticeable effects at all.

Your best defenses against malware are staying current with third-party application patches and using strong passwords. When checking for the presence of malware, be sure to check the code residing on your hosting and not your backup files. Always use a virtual machine for verification to avoid infecting your own computer.

RE: Spam – A time consuming nightmare
I think the biggest problem with spam now a days is that companies are using bots that replicate the advertisement all over the net at a faster rate than most moderators and administrators can contain them at.

RE: Spam – A time consuming nightmare
I agree..I got lots of spam emails from my fake email, most of them contain the same message from different recipients, even now being a moderator is a full time job, one can only delete and check if the post is spam, but when the enemy is a bot, the moderator can only try to prevent the mass mailing of spam lols
