Information FTP Hosting/Server
FTP hosting is another hosting service, which is providing you with a server, where you can upload your files through the File Transfer Protocol. In order to upload your files, you must request an FTP login details from your provider, such as FTP host address/server`s IP, hostname, FTP port number, etc… You can simplify the upload process with the use of FTP client/applications. The most popular FTP clients are FileZilla, SmartFTP, and WinSCP. All of the above clients are featuring IPv6 support, Multilingual interface, upload resume, transfer of ``large`` files, network tools, etc…

FileZilla is compatible with almost all popular operating systems, and it is providing some extra features, such as tabbed user interface, ``drag and drop`` support, filename filters, remote file editing, and even more.

SmartFTP is specially designed for website publishing and maintenance, and it is really helpful in all backup activities. The SmartFTP transfer engine is perfectly optimized and it will utilize the full connection capabilities.

WinSCP is also supporting multiple languages and ``drag and drop`` function. This FTP client works with Windows operating systems, and it also supports the more secure versions of the FTProtocol, such as SFTP, and even SCP. WinSCP is providing all of the most commonly used file operations, along with some additional features, such as operations from a removable media devices.

All of the listed above FTP clients are available for free.

Yes Apaullo, the above FTP clients are very effective, optimized, and user-friendly, which makes them the perfect choice for your daily FTP operations. There are companies specialized in providing servers specifically for FTP activities. However, most of the web-hosting plans are also including FTP capabilities/access as a feature to your plan, so you can use the described clients even for uploading to your web-hosting account.

RE: FTP Hosting/Server
Ah so when I enroll to a web provider, they also include some of these software in your plan, pretty convenient for me if that is the case Tongue

No, the webhosting provider is usually offering only the FTP capabilities with the hosting plan. However, you can download all of the described FTP clients from their official website and use them with your webhosting account.

RE: FTP Hosting/Server
Ah ok, so you mean the Provider provides the FTP capability to me but the downloading of the FTP client has to be made by me and use it on my account...I think I can manage that Tongue

To help clarify this part a little, there is the FTP server and the FTP client. When you connect to your hosting account or server via FTP you are using an FTP client to open the connection and manage your content. On the server or hosting account the FTP server is what you are connecting to. Some of the above, like FileZilla, offer a client or server version depending on what you are trying to setup.
