Information RE: Virtual Private Server(VPS) Explained
Hey Apaullo . The virtual private servers are literally software nodes created on the physical server with capabilities depending of their resource quota . The VPS provides all of the functionality , that the physical server can offer . The only difference is that every VPS is restricted to use certain amount of the server resources , while with a physical server you are using all available resources . To your second question - there is multiple answers to this question and I will try to give you the basics below . You can run a Shared web-hosting business on a VPS ,too . As I said above the VPS has all functionality of a physical server . For example , you can rent a VPS and then you can install WHM just like you are installing it on a dedicated server . You will have absolutely the same capabilities regarding creation of new accounts and the only limiting factor will be the VPS resource quota (HDD,Bandwidth,CPU) . Variant two - you can buy a dedicated server and divide it to VPS nodes . With this variant you can offer VPS hosting to your clients and you can even offer shared web-hosting on any of the created VPS nodes . You can create VPS nodes on your dedicated server with software like XEN server, VMware and other visualization software . The process of creation is not very complicated , but the first time is always hard . If you need any further help or questions , regarding the VPS technology or anything web-hosting related - Please do not hesitate to ask .
