RE: Web Design - Free Themes Modification
There are lots of free Web templates available for building Web pages, and posting one without modifying it wouldn't be a very good portfolio project. But using a template to get an idea flowing is a great portfolio idea. I don't recommend using the fully fleshed out templates with colors and images, as unless you do so much modification that the template is no longer there, you didn't do the design.

Hey dorae, every modification of a certain template is making it unique. You can use the this default template as a base on which you can implement your design ideas. It is better to start building your site from scratch, rather than ``fully flesh out`` a pre-made template.

I agree with Max, it is better to use the default theme AND then modify it
atleast you have the base structure, all you have to modify is the content, the design and the 'look' of your website.

RE: Web Design - Free Themes Modification
That`s absolutely true, Apaullo, and once you have built the base structure of your website, you could hire an experienced web designer to help you with any further modifications.
