There are hundreds of free web hosts available on the Internet.
Many people do opt for it without knowing some major disadvantages of free web hosts.
In this post, I would like to share some major disadvantages of free web hosts.
1. One of the biggest disadvantages according to me is that search engines often ignore a website hosted on a free web host. If they do not ignore, then they might take months to index that website in the database.
2. Free web hosts offer only limited features.
3. Most of the free web hosts have ads and banners placed on the web page.
4. No or poor support systems.
5. Website may be down at times.
Looking at these disadvantages, I personally feel that free web hosts must be ignored if you want to have some quality content on the web.
I would also like to know your views on the same.

Yes, I agree with you. There are also some disadvantages of a free web host. I think they are also crucial. They are-
1. A free web hosted blog can be closed by their providers at any time.
2. You can not sale your free hosted blog at any cost. Because it is not your property at all. But You have to put much effort to make the blog attractive.
3. You can not get security for your free hosted blog.
4. You will not allow to control on server resources.
At last I just want to say that no one will give anything without some returns. So, I think free web hosts should be avoid.

Hi Aayushjindal,
Your post is really helpful. I am trying to get my first website started and I'm finding that I don't even know where to start. I was looking into a few different web hosts but I can't tell what features are valuable and which ones I can live without on my first site. I mean, more expensive can often mean a superior service/product, but when it comes to web hosts, which features are worth the money that a free web host doesn't provide, in your opinion?

If you ask me, which is the most important feature, then I will always suggest, "SECURITY".
Choose a web host, which is dedicated in providing some quality security.
Meanwhile, as our admin suggested you can check reviews of shared web hosts and select one of them if you want

Yes , aayushjindal is absolutely right . You do not need a certain service in spite of all great features ,enormous resources available or cheap price , if that service is not secured . What is the point of creating an awesome website with huge database , when at some point this website is going to be hacked,DDoS-ed or compromised in any other way . At the end all of the provided resources and features will be meaningless , if you can`t be confident in the tomorrow`s existence of your website .

I agree with aayushjindal and Max, we cannot risk security and even privacy on a free web hosting services or even shared hosting service. the features and cheap price may lure you to get one however we cannot compromise our data and protected information. We wouldn't want any hackers messing up with our website and our data, right. So, I suggest read the reviews of the web host providers and if they are excellent and reliable we can opt for their trusted service.

I can't help but agree with Max, security is the number 1 priority when looking for a web host, without it, no matter how great or cheap their other services but without security is like having a very pretty garden in the backyard without gates to stop dogs from digging in there and put their bone under ground lols!
One thing I also dislike is that when you acquire the services of a free web host, they usually put their domain names before yours, well I really can't blame them, it is free after all but I find it irritating especially when you work hard for your site and their banners and names comes up first before yours. If you are really serious about setting up your own site then it is far better to risk it all by renting a shared web hosing, rather than acquiring a free web host but you have no control over your site completely.
Also check the site's reviews from their clients and if possible check out their personnel too if they are capable and have enough experience of their duties as the web host's employees. You really can't be too careful when it comes to sensitive data in your website, especially when yours is gaining more traffic and followers. When you are in a free web hosting, I bet they will gain more than you with your site since their banners and ads are all over your space
. overall, just rent shared web hosting than acquiring free hosting, as Riku07 said, free hosting should be avoided.

Your're right Apaullo, renting shared web hosting is far more better than free hosting due to privacy and security reasons. You wouldn't want your whole site to be infested with trigger happy web *****, right?

The most suitable issue regarding the time and new webmasters. It is very important because the demand for skilled and experienced webmasters is increasing rapidly. To be a skilled webmaster you must practice but it is quite risky to practise in a established website and none will allow you to maintain his/her website if you do not have practical knowledge.
Though there are a lot of limitation and disadvantages of free web hosting, it creates a means of your good pratice.
Therefore, I believe, the talented individuals who are new in this field can go for free web hosting to prepare themselves.
