Thanks to the VoIP services, you can drastically lower your company communications costs. VoIP technology is based on encoding of the human speech to digital format. This process is possible with the help of special session control protocols and appropriate audio codecs. Once the human voice is converted to a digital format, this digital format is send as a data package over the internet protocol. The size of this data package depends on the used audio codecs and their settings. When the other (receiving) side receives the package the process will be executed again, but backwards - decoding. If you are aiming at the highest possible audio quality, then the package size will be bigger. Herein, the VoIP process will consume more traffic, and you will need bigger VoIP package or hosting bandwidth quota. Nowadays, the VoIP usage is not entirely limited to the computers, and some smartphones are implementing this technology as a communication option. VoIP is implemented through many internet protocols, but the most popular is the Skype protocol. Recently, a lot of companies have launched complete VoIP services, which are able to provide you the same features (and even more) as the standard telephone network, but in times lower monthly costs. Another advantage of VoIP over the standard telephone services is the increased security level. With the usage of internet protocols, like SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol) your conversations confidentiality is guaranteed. The only ``field`` of VoIP performance, that should be further ``polished``, is the quality of service. The quality could be improved by the implementation of data-package delivery mechanism/system, which will confirm the delivery of each data package. Well, that`s it, for now – The thread is open for your suggestions and ideas.

Hmm..VoIP has been on the market for years now but it was just introduced recently by TelCos and especially Skype, cutting your phone bills to more than half to its original price. Do you think TelCos will eventually fold to VoIP? I mean TelCos made their living by your phone bills every month but with the creation of VoIP, and almost all households are online everyday, do you think Phone companies will eventually ran out of business?

Yes, at some future point the outdated phone technology will be entirely replaced by VoIP, or similar low cost services. However, the lines of this old technology could still be used for alternative purposes, such as ADSL and similar. There is something romantic and melancholic in those old phones, unfortunately, it is time for them to go in our memories

I think so too, the Phone technology will be obsolete but people will always use this as a means of communication, just like snail mail, Internet has been evolving to new heights and with the introduction of Gmail and all E-mails..snail mail will be obsolete but still people are using it and some even refuse to stop doing it.

Unfortunately, I can`t give you exact VoIP provider recommendations. However, the selection of an established VoIP provider with a good service history and user reviews is always recommended.
