The main purpose of the
Domain Name System is the translation/resolution of the
Domain name to the specific
IP address. In simple words, the
DNSystem is assigns the
Domain name with the corresponding
IP address. The information entries from the
DNSystem, such as address records, name server records, etc.., are all stored on the
Domain Name Server. Each website`s domain name is assigned to the appropriate
DNServer. Thanks to the above facts, when a user wants to find/access your website, he/she doesn`t have to type in the long IP address of your website, and the access is possible by a distinctive, easier to remember (usually) word, word+digits, etc… So, because of the DNSystem, your website is easier to be found, could use a unique domain name, and you don`t have to manually setup the
DNRecords. I hope, that the current article will help you to understand what DNS is, and how it works. Please, if you have any questions, or you want to add something –

Nice share i would like to share my views about this. The domain name system or domain name server (DNS) is a system that stores information associated with domain names in a distributed database on networks, such as the Internet. The domain name system (domain name server) associates many types of information with domain names, but most importantly, it translates the domain name (computer hostnames) to IP addresses. DNS is useful for several reasons. Most well known, the DNS makes it possible to attach easy-to-remember domain names (such as "yahoo.com") to hard-to-remember IP addresses (such as 207.142.131.206).
