Regarding the competition in the web-hosting business , I have to agree with you . There is so much companies out there and it is really hard to prevail , but it is not impossible . The beginning of every business is very important and you have to choose the right niche for your business . You must try to provide those services , that are hard to find with unique features at a competitive price .
I still have lots to learn when it comes to Web Hosting, here in the Philippines the ones that are offering web hosting usually are the Internet Service Providers themselves, before we have many small ISP's here that we can choose from, they occasionally battle for who could offer the lowest rates with good service but then came our 3 major telcos that took the game from them. Now this 3 major telcos are the ones battling for ISP supremacy.
The smaller ones died down eventually, but I think they are still offering web hosting here, it is just sad that the ones with the bigger capital can just consume the smaller ones.

Like when you target teen products or teen fashion then you should put your focus on it only and none others.
