| Hosting Forum Rules |
| First, welcome to the Hostingforum.ca and Camley Interactive Networks. We are a community interested in the hosting industry, from users, and professionals and others who need help in getting appropriate services from hosts, and also hosts getting help with thier sites, getting new suppliers etc. And now, The List: 1.) Look before you post. Make sure you read the FAQs. Most questions are already answered there. Make sure you use the forum search function before you post. Many questions have been answered repeatedly. 2. Standard forum manners are expected. Flaming is not welcome here. Keep it civil and polite. You reap what you sow. post in the most correct section. Posts made in a random or unrelated section may be moved or deleted. Do not hijack other people's threads, just create your own thread. Do not double-thread (or double-post) or bump threads. Your question will be answered if/when someone who knows the answer logs on and sees it. This is an English-language board. Posts in another language must be translated immediately and properly below, or in English only. Don't edit a moderator's edit of your post. Don't post something that is Not Suitable For Work (NSFW) without labelling it properly. And never tell someone to turn the volume up if it could get them fired. Don't make any unsolicited Private Message (PM) or Instant Message (IM) to any forum members or staff (with questions regarding to the location of cheap hosts, any technical support question, etc). It is rude and you will be either ignored or reported to the Admin's. Only PM staff if you have a problem regarding your account. NOTE: Introducing yourself is always nice! 3. Links are allowed to non-porn, non-warez, non-referral sites. Don't hotlink. Please respect the bandwidth of others. Referral posts and posts for sites like "Fancy Asian" will be deleted and the user banned. No Spam Advertising. Personal sites are fine, funny links etc. Do not link to forced-signup content. These links will be removed. Webhosts and Web Services companies are welcome to post in the respective marketplace section We do support commerce on this site. If you are caught scamming our users you will be reported to the police and we will procecute you to the fullest extent of the law, beyond the repercussions you will face in the industry in general. 4. "Common Sense." Usernames are expected to be civil. "Dirty Nig*a" is an example of an unacceptable name. If you have been banned permanently or temporarily, do not come back until that ban has been lifted. You may request an unbanning through the Contact Us link if you think you have been unfairly banned. Coming back before the ban is up will result in a longer or permanent ban. 5. The Sites and their Staff. Badmouthing staff and/or the sites and the forums is not welcome. Constructive criticism is always welcome, cussing out the staff or impinging the main sites' reputation because you're angry is not constructive or helpful in making this one of the better parts of the internet. NOTE: The Hostingforum.ca/Camley Interactive Network sites and these forums are provided free of charge. You can support them by clicking the advertisements on the sites. Administrator and Moderator decisions are final. Arguing the point in another thread falls under Rules 3 and 5 and their consequences. Again, the Contact Us link is available to you. Rest assured it points to an Administrator's email. The Staff here are volunteers and give their time freely. As a small reward they are exempt from all but the most extreme versions of these rules. If you have an issue with a Moderator or Admin, use the Contact Us link or PM an Admin. We have complete faith in our Staff. They may bend or allow things as they see fit, within reason. Their word is final. 6. Signatures. Signatures are allowed within reason and subject to all the rules of this board. One sig image per person, and it should be reasonably sized (max 450 wide X max 150 high). Total Size in Kb shall not exceed 50kb.(Legacy Members are permitted 85kB) Animated Sigs are acceptable, but keep animation to a minimum. (an example of "bad" animation would be Japanese seizure robot-style flashes etc.) You can have text in your signature also, which should not exceed 3 lines with the picture present, or 6 lines without an image. Text is of course optional. File types allowed are gif, jpg, jpeg, png - please note HTML code is disabled for security reasons. That's about it...really it's common sense what we ask for. Welcome to our little corner of the Internet! Hopefully it will become "your" corner too! -The Owners, Admin & Mod team. |
