We hate the functional languages out of principle. What was it we
used to call lisp? Lots of Idiotic and Silly Parenthesis?

Actually there is a vi clone called "vile", isn't there? If jed, or
even joe, had existed when we started out on unix, we probably would
never have learned vi. But we did, and it's really like riding a
bicycle. Often, while using another editor, we will move our pinky
up and hit the escape key...
